After Rain Delays, Wayland On Track To Have First Beer Garden Event

The Wayland Economic Development Committee began planning beer gardens early in 2023. Then the rain came.

WAYLAND, MA — This summer's countless rainstorms waylaid a project that's been brewing in Wayland since at least February.

That's when the Wayland Economic Development Committee began planning a series of beer garden events for the summer at the Wayland Town Center. The committee had scoped out a food partner — The Local, a local restaurant in the town center — and made inroads with local brewers.

The gardens were going to pop up during two music festivals this summer, according to committee chair Rebecca Stanizzi. Both festivals were washed out, starting with the Arts Wayland Expo on May 20.

The Arts Wayland Expo was rescheduled to Sept. 30, however, and that's when the first beer garden of summer 2023 will officially be held, Stanizzi said.

But for anyone who was looking forward to enjoying an outdoor beer this summer in Wayland, there's always summer 2024. The Economic Development Committee is meeting Friday morning to discuss plans for a permanent spot for the beer garden next summer.
