To the Editor,

I am writing in support of David Gordon Cliff for Board of Selectman. Gordon has the professional background, concern for our community and positive attitude that Wayland needs.

Like most Wayland residents, Gordon and his family moved to Wayland for the quality of home and life that is affordable compared to our peer towns, the quality of our schools and the semi-rural nature of Wayland. Like most Wayland residents, Gordon and his wife Beth have become passionate about Wayland and they both contribute to our community in many ways from their involvement at First Parish, the school swim teams and actively supporting the vote for our new High School. Most recently, Gordon was appointed to and served on the Town's Audit Committee where he has contributed tremendously to making our Town's Annual Financial Statements more accurate and informative. Gordon's professional background as a business consultant at a leading management consulting firm demonstrates he can readily adapt and thrive in the role of member of the Board of Selectmen.

Wayland's Board of Selectmen sets the tone for the direction of our town. This five person board decides which services are funded or not; decides which initiatives are pursued or squashed and which initiatives are brought to the voters to decide at the polls. In previous years, had there been one or two fewer members supporting the High School or Town Center, neither of these initiatives would be a reality today. Since the last election, many votes by the Board of Selectmen have been split and I feel it is veering away from the ideals many of us cherish. I trust Gordon to keep Wayland strong and support the initiatives that I know the majority of voters cherish. I would like to thank Gordon for making this important commitment to Wayland. Please join me in support of David Gordon Cliff at the polls on April 2.
