To the editor:
We write to support the candidacy of Gordon Cliff for selectman of Wayland. Gordon’s campaign is simple and compelling: Keep Wayland strong by reinforcing the values that led so many of us to choose Wayland as their place of residence in the greater Boston community. Gordon has experience in the private sector that will equip him to find ways and places to save costs, but he urges that the town not compromise its strength in its public schools or in public health and safety, open land or other arenas of public concern.

In his mind, and in ours, the cost of maintaining excellence in these important areas of public concern is really an investment that produces current rewards in the form of top educational opportunity for our children and enhanced living conditions for all, along with long term rewards in the form of better property values than would exist if the Town allowed its excellence in these areas to erode.
