Multiple PDs Bust Cog In Major Credit Card Theft Ring

Victims were in Wayland, Lynnfield, Burlington, Boston, Canton, Lexington, Arlington, Westborough, Woburn and Providence.

WAYLAND, MA—A man is facing multiple charges after numerous police departments jointly investigated a credit card theft ring that left victims in several Massachusetts towns, and also Providence, RI.

On Sunday, June 3, after a six month investigation, Detective Sergeant Jamie D. Berger of the Wayland Police Department and Detective Sergeant Nick Secatore of the Lynnfield Police Department with the assistance of the Everett and Malden Police Departments located and arrested Carl J. Byron, 63, in Malden, at 7:07 p.m. At the time of his arrest, Byron was reportedly living in a residence on Broadway Street in Everett, according to police.

Byron is allegedly part of a credit card theft ring that would target area sports clubs and school gyms, steal victims credit cards and then purchase high end Apple Laptop Computers and electronics.

It is alleged that Byron has victims in Wayland, Lynnfield, Burlington, Boston, Canton, Lexington, Arlington, Westborough, Woburn and Providence, Rhode Island.

Involved in this investigation were the Wayland Police Department, Lynnfield Police Department, Arlington Police Department, Westborough Police Department, Woburn Police Department, Burlington Police Department, Boston Police Department, Canton Police Department, Lexington Police Department and the Manchester NH Police Department.

The Wayland Police Department urges victims that have had their credit cards stolen from local sports clubs and gyms to be sure to report the theft to your local police department.
