Virtual Author Talk: Valerie Frey and Preserving Family Recipes
Heirloom dishes and family food traditions are rich sources of nostalgia and provide vivid ways to learn about our families’ past, yet many of them exist only as unwritten know-how and lore that vanishes when a cook dies. Face surveillance systems are computer programs designed to analyze images of human faces to identify and track people at a distance without their knowledge or consent. Kade Crockford, ACLU of Massachusetts’ Director of Technology for Liberty, speaks on the "Press Pause on Face Surveillance" campaign, and what you can do to help ensure new technologies don’t eclipse our basic rights. Virtual Author Talk: Joy Harjo
United States Poet Laureate and winner of the 2022 Academy of American Poets Leadership Award, Joy Harjo, joins us for a chat about her most recent memoir, Catching the Light and to discuss her rewarding life as a writer and poet. Register. Tuesday, November 16 at 4 p.m.

Virtual Author Panel: Poetry and Flash Fiction
Peter F. Crowley is a prolific Boston-area author whose work includes short fiction, op-eds, poetry, and academic essays. Based in Salem, Linda Werbner is a therapist whose writing has appeared in Quail Bell Magazine and Global Poemic, an online literary journal. Timothy Gager has had over 1,000 works of fiction and poetry published, including 18 books. Register. Thursday, November 21 at 7 p.m.

Explore Roleplaying Games
Curious about tabletop roleplaying games (e.g. Dungeons & Dragons, Critical Role online)? Looking for a fun, creative way to work together to tell stories and make friends? Virtual Author Talk: Naomi Alderman and The Future
An explosive series of events is set in motion. While a few billionaires assured of their own safety lead the world to destruction, the efforts of two very different women could lead to something beautiful or the cataclysmic end of civilization. BREAKING NEWS! School Bus Stop at the Wayland Public Library Reinstated!

Starting on Monday, November 13, Wayland Middle School and Wayland High School students can get dropped off at the Wayland Public Library. The #2 Bus will stop at the library at around 3:40 pm. For questions about the bus route/stop, please contact Melissa Ricci at Melissa_ricci@waylandps.org. For questions about the waiver form and scheduling, please contact the schools’ main offices. Teens! Please join us and make an adorable felted slot. Learn how to sculpt a sloth using a special needle and merino wool. Needle felting is fun and easier than it looks.
