Special Ballot Question On Wayland Marijuana Could Pass Board

The town could be voting to change its mind on recreational marijuana establishments in town.

WAYLAND, MA—Even though Wayland voters gave the thumbs up to allow recreational marijuana establishments to open in town, it may change its mind.

At the Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday, Jan. 23, an agenda item includes a discussion with the town planner to place zoning articles on the town meeting warrant with a special town election to vote on the issue.

The vote on Monday would approve a special election that includes a ballot question on whether Wayland residents want to ban recreational establishments in town, reports Wicked Local Wayland.

If the ballot question is approved, the wording on that question would come later, per the town's lawyer. If that is approved, it would be finalized with a two-thirds vote at the November town meeting.
