WAYLAND, MA — The town is now accepting applications from residents interested in filling a vacant seat on the Wayland School Committee.

Member Jessica Polizzotti resigned earlier this month citing a conflict between her values and recent decisions made by the committee. In recent months, the school committee placed Superintendent Omar Easy on leave, and then hired new administrators to take over for him and other exiting district leaders.

Residents interested in filling Polizzotti's seat have to apply by 4 p.m. on May 31. Applicants must be registered Wayland voters and have to submit a cover letter and resume for the role.

Polizzotti was elected to her first term in 2021 and was set to serve until spring 2024. The new member will serve the remainder of her term, but will also be able to run for a new term next spring.

The Wayland Select Board and school committee will meet in joint session on June 5 to pick Polizzotti's replacement.
