Weekly Question: Is Wayland a Dog-Friendly Town?

Seems as though Wayland has gone to the dogs.

The most recent U.S. Census numbers for Wayland indicate the town has a human population of 12,994. The most recent "census" of dogs in Wayland indicates there are 1,284 canine companions in town -- that's "ruff-ly" one dog for every 10 people. (We couldn't resist).

Those dog census numbers are actually the number of dogs registered in town so far this year. (The deadline to register your dog was Jan. 15, by the way).

In other dog news, the Board of Selectmen is proposing some changes to the town's dog regulations in this year's Annual Town Meeting Warrant. You can check out the proposed changes in the draft warrant.

All this talk about dogs got us wondering what kind of quality of life Wayland actually offers to dogs and dog owners. Is it easy to be a dog owner in Wayland? Are there sufficient resources for dog owners (pet supply options, dog walkers, kennels, veterinarians, etc.)? Basically, Is Wayland a dog-friendly town?
