UPDATE: Nstar Estimates Full Restoration After Pats Game Kickoff

Crews are working to restore power after wind took down trees and power lines in Wayland Sunday morning.

[Update] Nstar crews are currently working on a major power outage caused by a tree that tumbled into power lines on Plain Road at about 11:30 a.m.

But the news isn't good for Pats fans.

Nstar spokeswoman Mary Ellen Molloy said the current estimate to restore all Wayland customers is 8:30 p.m.

Molloy said that as of 2:30 p.m., Nstar had about 540 customers in Wayland without power and expected to have about 200 of those restored by 3 p.m.

Crews were working to clear the downed tree at Plain Road, which must occur before Nstar can work on the lines there, Molloy said. The other 300 customers without power will be restored once that tree is cleared.

Many people in north Wayland are spending a chunk of their Sunday without power after wind wrecked havoc on some trees and power lines.

According to a Wayland public safety dispatcher, the Public Safety Building even lost power for a time, but had been restored as of about 1:45 p.m.

Wind brought down trees on Route 20 and near 154 Plain Road, according to the dispatcher. Route 20 was even closed for a time Sunday morning while crews worked to clear the debris and restore power.

The Nstar outage map showed that 1,537 Wayland customers, that's 28 percent of the utility's 5,485 customers in town, were without power as of 1:50 p.m. Sunday.

Patch has contacted Nstar for additional information and will update this article when that information is available.

In the meantime, if you have power, let your friends know ... just in case they need a place to watch the Pats game in a few hours.
