2018 Wellesley Election Primary Results

Find out who is moving on to November's general election.

WELLESLEY, MA — If you were expecting any surprises in Wellesley during the 2018 primary election, you were surely disappointed.

Governor Charlie Baker has defeated his Republican primary opponent Scott Lively. Baker will now face Democrat Jay Gonzalez. In Wellesley, Baker beat Lively with 985 votes to 246 and Gonzalez beat Bob Massie 2250 to 460.

In one of the more anticipated statewide races, Democratic Secretary of State William Galvin soundly beat Boston City Councilor Josh Zakim in the Democratic primary, taking 1,889 votes in Wellesley to Zakim's 1,186.

Democratic U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren's general election opponent will be Republican state Rep. Geoff Diehl. The Whitman Republican beat John Kingston and Beth Lindstrom and picked up 494 votes in Wellesley to Kingston's 288 and Lindstrom's 363.

Democratic Congressman Joseph Kennedy III's held off primary opponent Gary Rucinski. He earned 2,942 votes in Wellesley while Rucinski received 200.

Democratic State senator Cynthia Stone Creem and state Rep. Alice Hanlon Peisch are through to an unopposed general election following an opponent-less primary.
