BREAKING: Wellesley College President Stepping Down

The announcement was made Friday.

Wellesley College President Kim Bottomly announced Friday that she will step down from her position next year.

Bottomly, who received the position in 2007, informed the college’s Board of Trustees during a meeting of her decision to leave Wellesley in July 2016. Bottomly is the first scientist to lead Wellesley, which is a private women’s liberal arts college.

“There will never be an easy time to leave such a wonderful place,” Bottomly wrote in a letter to the school. “But this is the right time for me. I am confident that Wellesley will continue to build on this base to achieve all the goals and aspirations of this remarkable college.”
