Gun Found Near Wellesley High School
The weapon was discovered in a small bag in a grassy area adjacent to the aqueduct by Hunnewell Fields.

WELLESLEY, MA — A gun and some ammunition were found near Wellesley High School Wednesday afternoon, Wellesley Police confirmed.
Just before 4 p.m., Wellesley Police received call from a person who said they found the objects in a small bag in a grassy area adjacent to the Hunnewell Fields area near Rice Street. The caller said they were walking their dog on the Crosstown Trail through the field when the the dog noticed the bag. The caller opened the bag and discovered the weapon and ammunition.
A search of the area was conducted and nothing else was located, police said.

Wellesley Police have notified the Wellesley Public Schools of the discovery due to the proximity to the high school, although it is believed that there is no connection between the weapon and the school.
Wellesley Police will have a visible presence at the high school Thursday and Friday.
