Wellesley Neuroscientist Weighs In on Dress Color Debate

If you haven’t heard about it then you’re not good at using social media but if you have heard about it you probably want to turn off your phone forever. There’s a controversy on the colors of the dress BuzzFeed posted about and the debate has manifested into a matter of nationwide debate.

Wired’s Adam Rogers focused on the scientific aspect of the debate, stating that ”light enters the eye through the lens -- different wavelengths corresponding to different colors.”

And Bevil Conway, a Wellesley College neuroscientist, told Wired that when looking at the photo “you’re trying to discount the chromatic bias of the daylight axis.”
Conway argues that those who see white and gold in the photo do so by discounting the blue side and vice versa. He sees blue and black.
