Public Urination, Bitcoin Demand: Wellesley Police Log

The following is from the Wellesley Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

August 1

4:45 p.m. - Officer D. Popovski spoke with a woman who stated she was notified by a financial institution that an unknown male party had attempted to cash a check for $85,000. The caller asked if she had issued the check. She advised him that she had not and in fact she had that specific check still in her possession. The bank employee would not provide the reporting party or Officer Popovski with any additional information because there had not been any financial loss.

5:13 p.m. - Officer Wall spoke with a woman at the police station who stated a few moments prior she had an issue with her neighbor. The reporting party stated that she had recently gotten home and as she was parking in her driveway she observed a neighbor only wearing a blue shirt without any pants on, that he was facing her driveway and his penis was visible. She stated she immediately came to the police station because she was so shocked by what she had just observed. Officers went and spoke with 30-year-old Christopher Fitzpatrick of Wellesley who acknowledged that he may have been outside at the time but provided some conflicting information about what he was wearing at the time. He indicated that while he was standing in the driveway smoking a cigarette he urinated near some of the bushes in his driveway. When asked if he had his hands on his penis while urinating he indicated he did. While speaking with Fitzpatrick, Officer Wall detected a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage. Fitzpatrick was taken into custody, charged with open and gross lewdness transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on $500 bail.

10:29 p.m. - Officer Keenan was conducting traffic enforcement on Washington Street in the area of Crescent Street when he observed a Toyota sedan and conducted a query of the vehicle’s registration to verify its status. The query showed that the vehicle failed its inspection in June. Officer Keenan stopped the vehicle on Oakland Street and spoke with the operator, 27-year-old Sharron Jackson of Framingham. Jackson was unable to locate his license and provided a learner’s permit as identification. A query of his information showed an active straight warrant issued by Brighton District Court for motor vehicle related offenses. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and held on $100 bail.

August 2

3:05 p.m. - Officer Shore was dispatched to a residence on Elmwood Road for a report of an intoxicated male. Officer Shore learned that the male party, 29-year-old Todd Knights of Wellesley, had an active warrant issued by the Waltham District Court for a probation violation. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and held without bail.

August 3

3:26 p.m. - Officer Kane spoke with a woman about suspicious activity and attempted extortion. The woman stated that at the end of July they received an extortion letter in the mail and believed it to be a scam so they threw it away. She sated on Aug. 1 she received an email stating that the sender had some of her personal information and demanded $2,700 in bitcoins be deposited into a specified account. She read online about similar scams where a hacker would attempt to extort money. On Aug. 2, she received an email from Amazon about her password being changed. She was unable to access her account via computer and contacted Amazon to have them reset her password. On Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. the woman was unable to log into her social media account and learned that an unknown individual had stolen her account and associated it with a new user ID and password. She stated that she has contacted the social media company regarding this issue. She has reviewed all of her bank and credit card accounts and changed all of the passwords. At this time, she has not suffered any financial loss, but wanted the incidents documented in case further incidents occur or she becomes a victim of identity theft.

August 5

5:29 p.m. - Officer DeBernardi was on patrol on Cedar Street near Bethel Road when he observed a Dodge SUV traveling in front of him. He conducted a query of the vehicle’s registration which showed that the registered owner’s license was suspended. He stopped the vehicle on Worcester Street near Dearborn Street and spoke with the operator and registered owner, 31-year-old Lonnie Wade of Milton. Wade was taken into custody, charged with operating with a suspended license, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and later released on personal recognizance.
