Thief, Possible Break-In Attempt: Wellesley Police Log

The following is from the Wellesley Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

August 6

4:15 p.m. - Officer Fritts was dispatched to the Babson College Skating Rink parking lot for a report two motor vehicles that had been broken into. Officer Fritts spoke with two women who both had purses stolen from their vehicles. Windows were broken to gain access to both vehicles and their purses contained credit cards, gift cards, cash, and identification. Officer Fritts is investigating.

5:20 p.m. Officer Wall was dispatched to the area of Lexington Road and Worcester Street for a report of a man who had approached a homeowner and asked for gas money because his car had run out of gas. Officer Wall observed a man sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle stopped in the breakdown lane of Worcester Street and asked if he had approached a homeowner about gas money. He indicated he had because he ran out of gas. Officer Wall asked the man, identified as 40-year-old James Schofield of Framingham, for his identification. He provided Officer Wall with his name and date of birth. A query of his information showed he had two active warrants issued by the Framingham District Court for his arrest. He was taken into custody, transported to the station, booked in the usual manner, afforded all rights and held without bail.

7:19 p.m. - Officer DeBernardi was dispatched to a residence on Abbott Street for a report of damage to a screen. The reporting party suspected that someone might have tried to break into the residence. The report is incomplete at this time and no further information is available.

August 7

1:00 p.m. - Sgt. Gerrans spoke with a woman from Barton Road who stated that she observed a man exit a red SUV and walk to a wooded area and she believed he was going to urinate. She told him not to urinate at which point he walked back to his vehicle. The woman provided Gerrans with the vehicle’s registration number. Gerrans was able to later make contact with the man. The man stated he was driving the vehicle and has a medical condition which causes him to have to urinate frequently. He stated he was going to urinate, but did not because the woman told him not to. He apologized and indicated he would not do it again.

5:30 p.m. - Officer DeBernardi spoke with a man who stated his mother, who resides in Connecticut, had been the victim of credit card fraud and the Simbury Connecticut Police Department had identified a suspect, but needed him to speak to his local police department and provide a statement so they could move forward with charges. Officer DeBernardi spoke with the Simbury Police Department and advised he would file a report and forward it to them.

6:50 p.m. - Officer DiCenso spoke with a woman who stated she had a verbal disagreement with a neighbor that she felt was threatening in nature. Officers spoke with both parties and they had conflicting versions of what had occurred. The two parties then spoke to each other in the presence of the officers and were able to resolve the conflict and miscommunication.
