WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough responded to a single car crash in the Assabet River late Thursday night.

Firefighters went to the part of the river near 25 Maynard Road south of Route 9 around 9:30 p.m., arriving to find that a car had driven off a bridge into the water. The driver was able to get out of their vehicle, but needed help getting up the river bank. The driver did not need medical treatment, the department reported.

Firefighters put a boom in the water to contain any possible fuel or other fluid spillage. A crane was called to the scene to pull the vehicle out of the water.
