Glass Heron Owner Prepares to Spread Wings

"After 23 years," Deb Limanek says, " It's time to find something new. Spread my wings."

The Glass Heron gift shop, at 1 South St., will close on Jan. 31, ending 23 years in that location, on the Westborough rotary.

"I would love to thank all the folks that have supported this little store over all these years," Limanek says.

"We have shared our lives. Happy and sad moments."

A stained glass craftsman, Limanek says she started her business " in Sturbridge to sell my own work, and have a gift shop."

"And then I saw this little shop open. And it had windows, which is what I needed for my work," she says.

"I lit this corner for 23 years, added quite a bit of color to the downtown."

Limanek's love of herons inspired the store's name, "so, when I was searching for a name, I said, 'The Glass Heron.'"

She says she will try to do the Westborough Farmers' Market, which starts in June.

"I'm hoping that I'll still be visible in the area. I feel I'm part of the community," Limanek says.
