Heat Wave: Westborough Extends Library, Senior Center Hours

Residents will be able to use the facilities into the evening hours to catch get air conditioning during a heat advisory.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough residents who need to cool off during this week's heat wave can head to either the library or senior center. Both facilities will be open later to serve as cooling centers as the heat index nears 100 degrees in the area.

The senior center, 4 Rogers Road, will be open until 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Westborough Fire Chief Patrick Purcell said Wednesday. The town will reassess the extended hours on Friday.

There's a heat advisory in effect for Westborough until at least Thursday evening. With the heat index, it'll feel like 96 on Wednesday and 97 on Thursday. But the heat won't end there. The forecast calls for 92 degrees on Friday, and 94 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
