Lyman Street Stop & Shop Remains Closed in Wake of Oven Fire
The Westborough Fire Department reported heavy smoke damage to the business.
Captain Calvin Lawrence of the confirmed Sunday afternoon that a fire at the Lyman began inside a rotisserie chicken oven, but was quickly put down by the store's sprinkler system.
"I don't know for sure, but I assume this was a grease fire at this point," said Lawrence.
There was significant amount of smoke damage to the store which remains closed as of late Sunday afternoon. Emergency personnel were still on scene as of this post, along with displaced shoppers and employees.

"The store remains closed and the board of health is on the scene assessing the damage along with the investigations unit," said Lawrence. "It looks like there could be a large loss involved for the store because of all the areas affected by the smoke."
The fire was reported at approximately 1:40 p.m., and fire crews from Northborough, Grafton, Hopkinton and Southborough were all called in for mutual aid and assistance at the scene.

Utility companies Nstar and National Grid shut off services to the building as a precautionary measure.
Eyewitnesses said that neighboring businesses had also been evacuated.
The fire remains under investigation, and no offical statement has been made concerning an official cause as of this post.
