Remembering Westborough's 9-11 Victims

This Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—We all remember where we were when it happened, and Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of the tragedy that shook the nation. Around the country, many will gather to honor and remember the victims of the 9-11 attack, which occurred on Sept. 11 of 2001. More than 3,000 people lost their lives that day.

Westborough lost two of its own in the attack:

Robin Kaplan was 33 and worked for TJX Co., and was on American Airlines Flight 11.

"When Robin Kaplan's friends bickered, she would chime in, 'harmony.' She was a peacekeeper. And if they kept fighting she would put her hand to her temple and say, 'Oh, my head.' She had tons of phrases. She made everyone feel welcome." Read the full tribute and obituary from Legacy here.

Linda George, who was 27, from Westborough, was a buyer at TJX and was on AA Flight 11.

"In July, 2000, Linda George had no idea of what was coming when Jeff Pereira, whom she had been dating for several years, suggested they drive out to Gooseberry Island, near Westport .It was overcast. They were strolling along, idly picking up shells. While George was distracted, Pereira hid something inside a mussel that he asked her to pick up. Inside, she found an engagement ring."
