Town Of Westborough: Congratulations To The February 2022 Employee Excellence Award Winner Dana Jackman!

The Employee Excellence Award committee is pleased to present this award to Dana Jackman in the DPW. 

Dana has been with the Town since 1984 and has been the DPW head mechanic for more than 20 years.  He has kept a massive and varied fleet up and running with astounding proficiency.  Dana’s ability spans from work on Town and Police sedans, vans and SUVs to DPW heavy equipment trucks, all ranging in age from the 1970’s to the new 2022’s.  Over the years, by maintaining our fleet in good condition, he has staved off the Town’s expense in new vehicle purchases.  With a phenomenal knowledge base and memory, Dana can track most vehicles’ histories, major repairs and ultimate fates (e.g. declared surplus, swapped between departments, traded in, auctioned, scrapped, cannibalized for parts, etc.).  He has been the Town’s liaison with the RMV, the state auction, new and used vehicle dealers, salvage companies and sundry old and new parts providers.  He pitches in during snowstorms, running sidewalk plows.  Also, as stated in his nomination, “Dana is here every winter storm, tracking any emergencies that may arise while simultaneously keeping the yard clear of snow.  Because of Dana’s commitment to the Town, the entire fleet is ready at a moment’s notice.  We wouldn’t be able to complete our daily tasks without the assistance of this unsung hero.”
