A man was paid $100 and given a new outfit to pose as an account holder, according to police.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough detectives thwarted a group's plan to steal $600,000 from a local bank.
A suspect, posing as an account holder with a fake ID and a mask, went to secure the large loan from M&T Bank, according to police. That was when detectives organized an undercover operation, posing as bank employees and customers, and arrested the suspect when he showed up for his "appointment."
The suspect was actually a masked man who was picked up off the street, according to police. The suspect was paid $100 and given a new outfit to play the part by a group that police said is linked to other frauds throughout the Northeast.
