Westborough Footbridge Fails, Impeding Popular Loop Trail
The trail will remain closed until further notice as the town works to find a replacement for the bridge.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A popular loop trail along the Sandra Pond/Westborough Reservoir will be broken for the foreseeable future due to a hazardous footbridge.
One of the main supports of a wooden bridge that crosses Piccadilly Brook at the south side of the reservoir failed recently. The town is dismantling the bridge, and a timeline for its replacement is unclear.
"As the town works to determine replacement costs and timeframe for replacement, the bridge will be dismantled and disposed of properly over the next few weeks with this portion of the trail remaining closed until further notice," the Conservation Department said in a bulletin last week.

The bridge allowed access to the larger trail system in the conservation area from Minuteman Park along Upton Road. You can view a map of the trail with the bridge here (the first crossing south of Minuteman Park).
