Westborough Middle School Among Best In MA, U.S. News Says In New Ranking

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Sarah W. Gibbons Middle School in Westborough is among the best public middle schools in Massachusetts, according to a new ranking released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.

The school ranked No. 21 on the list, with a student-teacher ratio of 11:1, a student math proficiency of 71 percent and a reading proficiency of 72 percent.

The top-ranked public middle school in Massachusetts is Jonas Clark Middle School in Lexington. You can find a complete list here.

U.S. News researchers based the 2026 ranking of the nation’s best public middle schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. The researchers ranked more than 23,000 middle schools in its 2026 report, which was released Tuesday.
