Westborough Seeks Garbage Wranglers For PAYT Switch
A big refuse switch is coming to Westborough July 1. The town is looking for volunteers to help with the transition.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough is looking for volunteer "waste wardens" to help manage the transition to a new rubbish and recycling system that starts July 1.
The volunteer waste wardens will hang out at the transfer station to ensure that residents dropping off waste follow new refuse regulations, including the use of pay-as-you-throw bags.
The new pay-as-you-throw system will require residents to buy special garbage bags, but also obtain transfer station permits. The bags will be available at most local grocery stores, and will cost $10 for either a roll of ten 15-gallon bags, or five 33-gallon bags.

Some residents won't be affected by the change, including people who live in apartments with Dumpsters available, and people who pay for curbside service.
Any resident interested in becoming a warden should apply by 5 p.m. on June 12.
