Westborough's Daniel Kwan Gets 3 Top Academy Award Nominations
Kwan, an Emerson grad, co-directed and wrote "Everything Everywhere All at Once."

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough-born filmmaker Daniel Kwan has the chance to become the town's second person to win three Academy Awards.
Kwan was nominated this week along with creative partner Daniel Scheinert for three Oscars for their work writing and directing "Everything Everywhere All at Once": best picture, best director and best original screenplay.
Kwan and Scheinert met at Emerson College in Boston, and began their creative careers performing in and directing the music video for "Turn Down For What." They went on to direct the film "Swiss Army Man," plus episodes of TV shows like "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens," "Children's Hospital" and "Legion."

If Kwan wins all three, he would be the second Westborough filmmaker to get an Oscar, but the first in this century. Westborough-born film editor Ralph Dawson won Oscars for his work on the movies "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Anthony Adverse," and "The Adventures of Robin Hood" — all made in the 1930s.
In response to his nominations, Kwan tweeted an image with his reaction.
