Westborough's Daniel Kwan Sweeps 95th Academy Awards
The "Everything Everywhere All at Once" director and another Massachusetts native won awards at the Sunday ceremony.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough-born filmmaker Daniel Kwan walked away from Sunday's 95th Academy Awards with several top honors for "Everything Everywhere All at Once" — but he wasn't the only local who won gold.
Kwan and creative partner Daniel Scheinert — the pair met at Emerson College in Boston — won the best director, best original screenplay and best picture awards.
"No movie deserves to sweep, no matter how good it is, and I am rooting wholeheartedly for my fellow nominees. Thank you for coming along with me on this wild ride, all of your support has meant the world to me," Kwan tweeted before the Sunday awards ceremony.

Kwan and Scheinert met at Emerson College in Boston, and began their creative careers performing in and directing the music video for "Turn Down For What." They went on to direct the film "Swiss Army Man," plus episodes of TV shows like "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens," "Children's Hospital" and "Legion."
Kwan isn't the only person from Westborough to win an Oscar. Westborough-born film editor Ralph Dawson won Oscars for his work on the movies "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Anthony Adverse," and "The Adventures of Robin Hood" — all made in the 1930s.
