Westborough's Tavolino Sets March Reopening Date
The downtown area restaurant closed Feb. 9 for upgrades meant to eliminate a problem with mice.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The downtown Westborough Italian restaurant Tavolino will reopen this week following weeks of renovations to prevent mice from getting into the building.
Tavolino closed Feb. 9 with a promise to reopen over the first week of March. The owners announced this week that reopening will happen March 1 at 11:30 a.m.
The owners and staff at the restaurant have been battling mice for months. Co-owner Graham Silliman said their efforts — including weekly visits from pest control companies, top-to-bottom cleanings and traps — weren't working. The restaurant called in a rodent expert to work on the renovations over the past few weeks. The closure was also long enough to span the life cycle of mice.

The location of the building that houses Tavolino abutting train tracks and wetlands likely contributed to the problem, along with a relatively mild recent winters, Silliman said.
Health department records show Tavolino has not had any major violations in over the past six years. The recent closure was voluntary and not ordered by the health department.
