3 Nashoba Tech Seniors Get Certified By International Agency

WESTFORD, MA — Three seniors in the Early Childhood Education program at Nashoba Valley Technical High School have been certified as nannies by the International Nanny Association, the largest such organization in the world.

The International Nanny Association is the umbrella organization for the in-home child-care industry and provides information, education and guidance to the public and industry professionals.

Abigail Bernier of Chelmsford, Emily Morgan of Pepperell and Emily Rowsky of Lowell took the test in December after preparing for six months. The three were notified at the end of the month that they passed and are now certified nannies.

The exam covers child development; family/provider communication; child guidance; multicultural/diversity awareness; learning environment; personal qualities of a nanny; safety; management skills; nutrition and professionalism.

Abigail, daughter of Jeff and Kerry Bernier, is active in the Theatre Guild at Nashoba Tech. She works every other week at Roudenbush Children’s Center in Westford through the school’s Cooperative Education program and plans to attend a four-year school to study Elementary Education.

Elizabeth, daughter of Michael and Natalie Morgan, is a cheerleader and volunteer coach for the team. She plans to attend Fisher College to study Human Services, with a focus in Early Intervention, to become an applied behavior analysis therapist.

Emily, daughter of Anthony and Stacey Rowsky, works at Creative Minds Early Learning Center in Dracut through the Cooperative Education program. She plans to attend college for a teaching degree and work as a teacher.
