Does The Farmers' Market Cause Safety Concerns?

It was a topic of discussion at last week's Board of Selectmen meeting, today we want your take.

During that Selectmen's meeting last week with all the town employees, another topic came on the agenda: the seventh year of the Westford Farmers' Market

Westford Farmers' Market spokesperson Gloria Gilbert said in a statement to Westford Patch that she was "extremely satisfied that evening. I felt the support and willingness of the town's departments to make the farmers market work.  (The Town Deptartments) came together and pitched in to help make it happen. It is one of the reasons that makes Westford such a good place to live."

The Market has faced criticism regarding traffic and parking in the past the concerns voiced during last week's meeting were around safety, particularly around loading and unloading practices and pedestrian traffic (attached), although the concerns were allayed enough to allow the Market to continue.

You can see the entire discussion from the  30:00 to 50:00 mark on the Westford CAT video of the meeting.

What's your take on the Market? Is it a vital cultural benefit to the town that helps local residents buy locally grown and made food?

Or, is it a Tuesday nuisance, causing backed up traffic along Boston Road and other problems for the town?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
