Melissa Mackey Announces Candidacy For Westford Board Of Health
Mackey is currently a Clinical Lab Scientist at Lowell General Hospital.

WESTFORD, MA — Melissa Mackey, a Clinical Lab Scientist at Lowell General Hospital, is running for election to the Westford Board of Health.
Mackey, a mother of three, is a veteran of the United States Air Force and is extremely involved in her community. She currently takes part in theNabnasset Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), and the School Advisory Council for both Nabnasset and Abbot. She is also the Co-Vice Chair for the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) and was a member of the Covid Advisory Council for WPS in the 2020-2021 school year.
“Westford is a wonderful community with amazing people who are all seeking the same thing; health and happiness for their families and their community,” said Mackey in a statement. "I am looking to bring my clinical hospital experience to the Board, and offer a fresh, new voice with a data driven perspective.”

Mackey holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Medicine. She is also adjunct faculty for the Nutritional and Biomedical Department at UMass Lowell, where she teaches a lab course in Clinical Lab Theory.
"I will bring to the Board of Health a commitment to collaborative problem solving and working
together to solve our most crucial problems in regards to health,” said Mackey. "At a time when infectious disease is such a prevalent focus for all communities, my clinical hospital experience will provide an ‘on the ground’ perspective, that will create a robust dialogue, that fully considers
the unique needs of all members of our community, and focuses on an overall harm reduction
strategy. I will advocate for a balanced approach that considers residents physical and
emotional wellbeing, to create a healthy Westford.”
