• Towns in Central MA Hospital Desert Get $5M in State Funds for Strained EMS (jems.com) — Westford’s Fire Department will receive at least $100,000 as part of a $5 million state grant to strengthen EMS after the Nashoba Valley Medical Center closure. The money targets longer ambulance trips to Fitchburg and Lowell and will be supplemented as call volumes and transport times are analyzed, while a new UMass Memorial satellite emergency center is built in Groton.
   

• Thursday's high school roundup: Banda, Tildsley, Deschenes pick up top CAC football honors (lowellsun.com) — Westford Academy teams had a mixed night, with girls hockey topping Waltham 4–1 while the boys hockey Ghosts fell 5–2 to Billerica in non-league play. The roundup also highlights standout football all-stars from Shawsheen, Nashoba Tech, and Lowell Catholic, plus several strong basketball, hockey, track, and gymnastics performances from nearby schools.
