1. Officials to review Facilities Planning Report and FY27 budget (westfordcat.org) — Westford residents can sit in this week as town officials review a major facilities space planning and capital needs report and hold a public hearing on the proposed FY27 budget at Town Hall. The Select Board will discuss long-term building needs Jan. 13, while the Finance Committee and Select Board take public input on budget pressures, capital projects, and town-wide costs on Jan. 15.
   

2. Students Connect to Community Through New Fellowship Program at Local Nonprofit (uml.edu) — A UMass Lowell fellowship at the International Institute of New England is giving students, including Westford senior Lauren McNally, hands-on experience supporting immigrants and refugees with English and essential services. McNally and her classmates tutor youth, assist in ESOL classrooms, and help in a food pantry, building bridges between the university and nearby immigrant communities while gaining real-world skills.
   

3. 15 local football stars selected to All-State teams (lowellsun.com) — A Westford Academy football standout, JJ Wilson, has been named to the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association’s Division 2 All-State team, highlighting local talent on a statewide stage. He joins 14 other players from nearby towns and regional powerhouses like Tewksbury and Shawsheen Tech who were also honored for their strong seasons.
   

4. Over 100 Rally in Westford town center against ICE enforcement tactics (westfordcat.org) — More than 100 residents gathered in Westford’s town center Saturday to protest federal immigration enforcement tactics and discuss how these policies affect local immigrant neighbors. The event ties into ongoing Westford-based activism, including past “Bearing Witness at ICE” demonstrations and a League of Women Voters forum where Police Chief Mark Chambers explained how local police interact with ICE.
