Westford's Nabnasset Lake, Long Sought-for Pond To Close Monday
The lakes will close for treatment targeting the growth of aquatic vegetation.
WESTFORD, MA — Nabnasset Lake and Long Sought-for Pond in Westford will be closed Monday, August 23 for treatment targeting the growth of aquatic vegetation, said the town in an announcement Friday.
The lakes will be closed to all water uses, including swimming, fishing, and boating, and using the lake for drinking, irrigation, or watering livestock is prohibited.
Swimming, fishing, and boating may resume on Tuesday, August 24 at 8 a.m. However, using the water for other purposes will not be allowed until the following dates:

- Drinking and cooking - August 27
- Watering livestock - August 25
- Irrigation - August 29
The water treatment is being performed for the Nabnasset Lake and Long Sought for Pond Preservation Associations in accordance with a License to Apply Chemicals issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protections and an Order of Conditions from the Westford Conservation Commission.
