Street Sweeping And Hydrant Flushing Underway In Weston

It's spring, and that means cleaning the streets and the pipes.

WESTON, MA—The DPW's Stormwater Division has started its street sweeping operation, according to an announcement from the town.

Approximately 196 miles of roadways will be swept in town. Residents are encouraged to sweep the sand from their sidewalks into the gutters shortly before crews are scheduled to sweep your street. A map with a schedule is available on the Public Works' web page, which will help residents anticipate when the street sweepers will be arriving in their neighborhood.

The Weston DPW Water Division is in the process of flushing fire hydrants throughout town, which will continue through June. This program is conducted annually in order to remove sediment buildup in the mains. The flushing may result in temporary discoloration of the water, caused by small particles dislodged during the flushing. Discoloration might stain your laundry, especially white materials.
