The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout can achieve, and it recognizes a service project that fulfills a need within a girl's community whether local or global, creates change, and becomes ongoing. To earn the award, girls must complete the Silver Award and a minimum of 80 hours of service. The project is more than a good service project — it encompasses organizational, leadership, and networking skills. Just five percent, approximately, of all Girl Scouts earn this award each year.

Rohall’s project, Small is Easy & Delicious, addressed the concern that senior citizens in Weston are not always able to provide healthy food for themselves or make healthy food choices. Rohall and student volunteers recruited local senior citizens to attend nutrition workshops that included hands-on demonstrations for creating healthy and delicious, portion-controlled meals. Rohall created resources for various community service organizations that will continue the program.

Vimadalal created Weather Hazards Awareness/Educational Program for Senior Citizens after conducting a survey with a small sample of senior citizens in Weston. Vimadalal discovered that many senior citizens are unaware of weather and emergency preparations that help save lives. She compiled information and created simple guides, enlisting the help of local children to provide artwork to create a user-friendly binder. Vimadalal distributed the binders to local seniors and area organizations. The project will be sustained by Eileen Bogle, Director for the Weston Council for Aging and Weston High School students.
