5 Things: Parkway Pop Warner Sign-Ups; Brook Farm Archaeological Talk

Tonight the Roxbury Latin School welcomes back The Sly Voxes, a men's a cappella group.

 

  1. Today is Parkway Pop Warner Football & Cheerleading sign-ups at Billings Field. Boys and girls from ages 7-15 as of July 31, 2013 are eligible to join Parkway Pop Warner Football and Cheer. This program is a great way to experience the game of football or the sport of cheerleading. Kids experience working together as a team and learn discipline. No tryouts required. 6 p.m. Stop by, they'll probably be grilling. 
  2. On Thursday, Fairview Corner (PREVIEW) is rolling out the red carpet and shining the spotlight on the latest Spring trends in clothing and accessories with a Fashion Show on Spring Street! There will be many raffles for various gift certificates with all proceeds going to the Pan Mass Challenge. 6-9 p.m. Join Top It Off, Fabutique, food by Baker Baker, Kalembar Dune as the models strut their stuff! 
  3. Tonight the Roxbury Latin School welcomes back  directed by RL Headmaster Kerry Brennan, performing motets, madrigals, folksongs,  spiritual and pop favorites. 7:30 p.m. All are welcome. Free. Reception will follow.
  4. Also today, New Brook Farm, Inc. invites the public to a free talk by City of Boston archaeologist Joe Bagley about the exhibit of artifacts from the Brook Farm Historic Site currently on display. Brook Farm is best known as the home to an experimental utopian community between 1841 and 1847. The exhibit includes artifacts from the Brook Farm community as well as from earlier and later occupants of the site, including Native Americans, colonial farmers, and soldiers posted at the Camp Andrew training encampment during the Civil War. 201 Rivermoor St. 2 p.m. The Brook Farm exhibit is free and open to the public by appointment Tuesdays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m through June 15. 
  5. From May 8 through May 19 (weather permitting), the VFW Parkway/Providence Highway corridor from Dedham into West Roxbury will be resurfaced at night. Lane closures are expected.
