Edelweiss Village Wins Volunteer Award at the 2022 MA-ALA 2022 Dinner
The prestigious 2022 Volunteer Award recognizes the outstanding volunteer work between the assisted living and the West Roxbury school.

Edelweiss Village Assisted Living was recently honored at the 2022 Massachusetts Assisted Living Association (Mass-ALA) Excellence Awards Dinner for the organization’s innovative programming with The Roxbury Latin School. The 2022 Volunteer Award recognizes the outstanding volunteer work between the assisted living and the West Roxbury school.
“We are thrilled to have won this coveted award,” said Renato DeLeon, Executive Director of Edelweiss Village. “Our partnership with Roxbury Latin is a wonderful example of an intergenerational program between seniors and students. We learn from each other!”
Accepting the award on behalf of Roxbury Latin was Jim Ryan, a long-time Roxbury Latin faculty member and Dean of Class IV, and Lucas Connors, a student in Class IV. The program began ten years ago and has grown stronger every year. Each month, students visit with Edelweiss Village residents and embark upon such projects as pumpkin painting, arts and crafts, current events discussions, painting, technology lessons, and woodworking.
