Memorial Dedication Bench for Charlie Nichols, Block Party on Pomfret Street

A Thirsty Thursday night s happening at Lords & Lady's Hair Salons co-hosted with complimentary sangria from West on Centre.


  1. On Saturday there will be a memorial bench dedication for Charlie Nichols of Charlie's Market on Weld Street. Charlie was the owner and operator of the Pioneer Food Store located on Weld Street in West Roxbury for 50 years. "In addition to being a wonderful neighbor to the community, Charlie was a beloved figure to many children who frequented his store delighting them with his penny candy." August 10 at noon followed by a block party on Pomfret Street.   2. Thirsty Thursdays is happening at Lords & Lady's Hair Salonsco hosted with complimentary sangria from West on Centre. A Moroccan oil deep conditioning treatment and blow dry for only $35.
  3. Chessmaster Charlie moderates the Ted D'Amato Chess Club on Monday and Wednesday afternoons in the summer at the West Roxbury Library. The program runs from 2:30-5:30 p.m. for students of the game of all ages and skill levels. This program is funded by the Friends of the West Roxbury Branch Library.

  5. The ReadBoston Storymobile will be making multiple stops per week at four West Roxbury locations this summer to read to children, free books and more! On Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Roche Family Community Center, and at 11:15 a.m. at Billings Field, and 12:30 p.m. at the Ohrenberger Community Center.
