Parkway Running Club Thursday Run Raising $$ for One Fund Boston

The run starts at Blanchard's at 6:30 p.m. and you'll get a pint of beer from Blue Hills Brewery and food from Los Amigos Burritos.

Parkway Running Club is asking all runners of Thursday's Highland Hash Spring Fun Run to make a voluntary $5 suggested donation to go to One Fund Boston.

The runs are actually free for anyone with Thursday's starting at Blanchard's in West Roxbury at 6:30 p.m. At each Fun Run, participants meet at the venue where they can choose from either a 2.5-mile or 5-mile route. Each route ends back at the venue with light appetizers and locally-brewed craft beer for 90 minutes following the run. Every runner gets a pint of the featured beer - from Blue Hills Brewery in Canton - at the finish, compliments of West Roxbury Main Streets, and Parkway Running Club is generously providing the food at the event from Los Amigos.

"Since the runs are free for anyone to join, we planned to collect a voluntary suggested donation for a local charity. Unfortunately, timing intervened and the (Boston) Marathon bombing affected many individuals in the Boston running community and beyond," said Michael Loconto, of the Parkway Running Club. "So West Roxbury Main Streets and the (Parkway Running) Club agreed to route our donations to the One Fund Boston to help support those who need it most right now."

Thankfully, no Parkway Running Club runners were injured in the attacks.
