Parts of LaGrange Street To Close for Bridge Work

Drivers and walkers, be aware!

WEST ROXBURY, MA – The Mass. Bay Transit Authority is doing work the first week of October on the Needham Commuter Rail Line over LaGrange Street, rerouting some foot and vehicle traffic.

According to the Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation, construction crews will work October 2 from 6 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to place new superstructure precast units that will be used to replace the existing superstructure at a later date.

MassDOT say this will require closing a section of LaGrange Street to motor vehicles and pedestrians. Detour routes, along with police details, will be in place to re-direct motorists and pedestrians.

The work is being performed as part of a larger project in which the MBTA is replacing the existing bridge superstructure and lowering the roadway for increased vertical clearance. Replacement of the bridge is needed to improve train operations and enhance safety.

Commuter Rail service will not be affected by the work.
