Rally to Support Expanded Bottle Bill Sunday in West Roxbury

A group of community members in West Roxbury are planning to gather for a rally Sunday in support of a ballot question focusing on expanding the state’s Beverage Container Deposit Law, also known as the “bottle bill.”
Boston City Councilor Matt O’Malley and a group of volunteers with Vote Yes on 2, as well as members of Yes on 4/Earned Sick Time, will gather on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Roche Bros. Plaza, on Centre Street in front of Starbucks, according to West Roxbury Saves Energy. Those who attend will subsequently canvass and pass out literature relating to the ballot initiative.

The proposed expanded bottle bill, which is Question 2 on the ballot on Nov. 4. The Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ website describes the bill as such:
A YES VOTE would expand the state’s beverage container deposit law to require deposits on containers for all non-alcoholic, non-carbonated drinks with certain exceptions, increase the associated handling fees, and make other changes to the law.

A NO VOTE would make no change in the laws regarding beverage container deposits.
