Derailed Train Causes Haverhill Line Problems Tuesday Morning

The out of service train derailed in Andover Tuesday morning. Wilmington commuters should take the Lowell Line Tuesday morning into Boston.

WILMINGTON, MA - An out-of-service commuter rail train derailed in Andover along the Haverhill line Tuesday morning causing several train delays and cancellations on one of the coldest mornings of the year.

There were no reports of injuries.

That situation caused inbound service on the Haverhill Line to end at Lawrence Station.

Commuters were taken by bus between Lawrence and Andover to grab the train into Boston.

MBTA officials suggested Haverhill Line commuters consider taking the Lowell Line from Anderson in Woburn Tuesday morning as that location has a large parking lot to accommodate passengers.

The Haverhill Line has a stop in Wilmington. Wilmington commuters can also get into Boston via the Lowell Line at Wilmington Station on Main Street.
