ICYMI: Burlington Police Investigating Shooting Near Mall
A 28-year-old man was shot near the Burlington Mall Thursday night. Police do not believe it was a random act.

BURLINGTON, MA - Burlington Police are investigating a shooting that took place near the Burlington Mall Thursday night.
Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent says police were called to the Burlington Mall parking lot closest to Middlesex Turnpike for a report of shots fired shortly after 9:21 p.m. Thursday night.
Officers located evidence of a shooting in the parking area, and Burlington detectives initiated an investigation. The Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Unit was notified and responded, as well.

Police say a victim was not immediately located, but they soon received a call from the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center reporting a 28-year-old man had come in with a gunshot wound to the arm. Detectives responded to the hospital immediately. The victim is expected to survive.
Chief Kent says this is an active and ongoing investigation and they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence. Police believe the victim and the assailant are known to each other.

Burlington Mall management is cooperating in the investigation, and officials from Simon Property Group, Inc. responded to assist police with logistics.
