Scenes From the Wilmington Minutemen Flag Retirement Ceremony
On Flag Day, the Wilmington Minutemen retired more than 300 American flags.
The Wilmington Minutemen held their annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Friday, June 14, providing residents the oppurtunity to retire American flags with respect.
Minuteman Frank West said the Minutemen retired more than 300 flags at this year's ceremony.

Wilmington Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, members of American Legion Post 136 and residents attended the ceremony, according to West.
In an interview with Wilmington Patch, West said the ceremony is also an opportunity for the Minutemen to honor American troops overseas.

"We're at war today and we have men and women overseas and one of the reasons is because of that little piece of red, white and blue," West said.
