The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a multi car crash that happened during rush hour Monday night on Rte. 93 in Wilmington.

At about 5:40 p.m., State Police from the Andover barracks responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Rte. 93 South, south of exit 40 in Wilmington.

Officials say preliminary information collected in the investigation by Trooper Ryan Resmini indicates that a 25-year-old man from Brockton was traveling on Rte. 93 South in a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis when his vehicle rear-ended a 2007 tractor trailer, which had slowed down due to heavy traffic. As a result of the crash, the operator of the Mercury was flown by MedFlight to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A seven-month-old female passenger was uninjured in the crash. The operator of the tractor-trailer, a 30-year-old man from Atkinson, New Hampshire, was also uninjured in the crash.
