Ballot Finalized For April 30 Wilmington Election

Five-person race emerges for School Committee, four-person race for Board of Selectmen.

Residents will find just two contested races when they go to the polls on April 30 for the 2013 Municipal Election. But they promise to be interesting.

With three seats up for grabs on the Wilmington School Committee, five candidates have emerged. Incumbents Margaret Kane and Kathleen Carroll will be challenged by Julie Broussard, Jennifer Spear and Donna Leone.

With incumbent Robert Hayes opting not to seek re-election, there is guaranteed to be at least one new member on the school committee.

There is a four-way race in place for two seats on the Board of Selectmen. Incumbents Lou Cimaglia and Michael Newhouse will be challeged by Kevin MacDonald and Daniel Murphy. Given the friction between MacDonald and the board in the past, the campaign season could feature plenty of fireworks.

Housing Authority incumbent Robert DePasquale and Shawsheen Tech School Committee incumbent Robert Peterson will be running unopposed.
