U.S. News High School Rankings: Wilmington High Not Ranked

Wilmington High School was not ranked as one of the top 75 high schools in Massachusetts, nor was it ranked in the national rankings.

WILMINGTON, MA - U.S. News and World Report released its rankings of the top high schools in the state and country Tuesday, and Wilmington High School did not make the list.

Wilmington High was not ranked within the Commonwealth's top 75 schools, nor was it given a national ranking by U.S. News and World Report. Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis was ranked as the Commonwealth's top high school, followed by Boston Latin School and Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School in Marlborough.

The rankings were determined through a four step process; which analyzed the school's test scores, performance of disadvantaged students, graduation rates and college readiness. This was the first year that U.S. News and World Report analyzed graduation rates.

Based on government data, WHS has a graduation rate of 96 percent, and a college readiness index of 22.3.

In the mathematics portion of the MCAS tests, 5 percent of students needed improvement and 1 percent designated as failing, with 27 percent of students performing proficiently and 66 percent exhibiting advanced performance.

In the English portion of the MCAS, no students needed improvement or were designated as failing, with 43 percent of students performing proficiently and 56 percent exhibiting advanced performance.
