Were Fireworks Set off in Local Mailboxes Overnight?
Residents around town say they were awoken Thursday night by bangs in the night that appear to be from fireworks placed in local mailboxes.

WILMINGTON, MA - Residents throughout town took to social media Friday morning to talk about loud bangs in the night that appear to be from fireworks placed in mailboxes around town.
According to a resident who spoke with police, officers received numerous calls overnight about damaged mailboxes.
Residents reported hearing the loud explosion-like sounds in several areas around town including the Boutwell Road area and Butters Row. Other areas include Lorin Drive and Swain Road.

Others said they saw fireworks and found soot inside their mailbox, while one resident said on social media her mailbox is completely gone “they blew it up,” she said.
Several residents found their mailboxes damaged Friday morning.
