Ex-Principal Sean Kiley, Winchester Schools Reach Separation Agreement

Former Winchester High principal Sean Kiley will continue to be paid through August 31, 2016, under the terms of separation agreement.

Former Winchester High School principal Sean Kiley will continue to be paid through August 31, 2016, under the terms of separation agreement released by Superintendent Judith Evans on Thursday.

In early August, Evans announced Kiley had resigned via an email to school parents. Kiley publicly denied the news of his resignation. The school replaced Kiley with Christine Kelley on Tuesday.

Kiley and Winchester school officials came to the agreement instead of entering into a drawn out legal battle. Neither side will be permitted to make disparaging statements about one another moving forward.

“From this time forward neither party will make or repeat or solicit any other party to make or repeat any allegation of illegal, immoral, unethical, or improper conduct about the other, unless ordered to do so by a court of competent jurisdiction or otherwise required by law,” part of the agreement reads.

Kiley will also be paid in full, receiving $128,750 in 26 installments over the course of the next year. Kiley will be allowed to stay on the town’s insurance plan and can seek other work.

Additionally, the agreement forced Kiley to remove any references identifying him as Winchester High School principal from social media and his online blog.

Evans has agreed to write Kiley a positive letter of recommendation in the event he finds opportunity elsewhere.
